SUBUR Community Gardens grows communities through the sharing of freshly grown food, togetherness, shared space and time. Food binds people – through recipes, memories, experiences.

At the same time, it encourages people to get back to the original food source, which is Mother Earth.

Recognising how our actions or apathy affect the environment and our future generations is the first step towards achieving a first-world mentality of environmental consciousness.

Welcome to SUBUR!

Who are we?

CHAN LI JIN is a health writer-cum-urban farmer who is passionate about health and wellness. Having interviewed thousands of people including doctors, patients, caregivers, sick children, and healthcare professionals over the last 15 years, she has come to realise that disease is an imbalance in the mind, body and soul. She regards gardening as a holistic way for people of all ages to stay healthy and happy, and advocates gardening as a powerful tool in community development, out-of-classroom education and mental health promotion.

SUBUR's seeds of hope:
  • Provide fresh sustenance/food using organic planting methods.

  • Lower food costs for low-revenue populations such as teachers, nurses, students, charitable homes.

  • Provide education on edible plants for children.

  • Provide elderly and children a sense of purpose and reason to stay active.

  • Unite communities through discussions, sharing and distribution of food
